A Visit to Holme Fen, UK

Today our family took a trip to Holme Fen.  There are several wooded areas around us that they have preserved and created walking paths and nature discovery areas.  To read more about the Fens you can look at the Great Fen Project  and discover more about these areas.

We had a great time. The animals seemed to be in hiding and the flowers were still far from blooming but we did find a patch of daffodils.  We walked around for over 2 hours getting lost in the woods and finding our way.. The getting lost was not really "GETTING LOST"  but more of a lets try this path which ended up being a dead end.  The kids enjoyed the mud puddles though as we just purchased them each their own set of Wellies for the adventure.  I am sure they will get enough use though with the weather and the trips that we take!

It was nice to have a day out just with nature and enjoy what we have been given.

This tree looked like a bear was crawling down it... do you see it?

Stuck in the mud... oops ... Thank goodness for Wellies!

 Couple of group shots

 The BUTT Tree... lol

 Goofy Kids!

 Nature... It was Beautiful there

The greenest part of the whole Fen!

 Watch out PAIGE!!!  Stuck again!
Brother to the rescue!

Daffodils ... just one little lonesome patch!

Goofing off with the Butt tree again

Didn't learn her lesson the first time... stuck without the Wellie now!

Walking back to the car...

Thanks for a great time at the Holme Fen.  It is a place we will revisit when the leaves are out and the flowers have bloomed.  I can't wait to see how different it is!
